Cal-OSHA HAZWOPER Standard
This course is intended for firefighters, police officers, ambulance personnel, government employees, military personnel, and private industry emergency responders.
First Responders at the Operations level are trained to respond to hazardous materials emergencies in a defensive fashion. Their primary role is to contain the release from a safe distance, to keep it from spreading, and to prevent exposures to nearby persons, property or the environment.
OSHA requires FROs to be trained in accordance with section (q) of the HAZWOPER regulation. This class has also been referred to as Hazmat FRO, Level II Responder, First Responder Operations, or any combination of these terms.
This training does require annual refresher training, per OSHA, of sufficient content and duration to maintain responder competencies.
This classroom training is offered both through open enrollment or by employers hosting their own on-site training. You can request a quote to have on-site training conducted at your location.
Online Training Systems also offers an 8-hour OSHA compliant online version of this course, and for those who require a CSTI/Cal OES certificate, we offer a 16-Hour CSTI FRO Classroom version.
Each participant who successfully completes this course is issued a Fed-OSHA certificate from Online Training Systems in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120(q). This course also complies with the training requirements for First Responders Operations under State OSHA, and NFPA 472. A downloadable certificate will be available within 24 hours of completion.
This training will take a minimum of 8 hours to complete. Our standard 1-day delivery format is one 8-hour day. Other options are available for client-hosted classes.
